Don Henley is an American singer, songwriter, musician and record producer. Henley is also the founding member of the band Eagles. He was the drummer and also co-lead vocalist for the band from 1971 until the band broke up in 1980, and he reprised those duties for the group's reunions since 1994.

After the Eagles broke up, Henley started a solo career and released his debut album, I Can't Stand Still, in 1982. One of Henley's most known and successful songs is "The Boys of Summer" which is about looking back on a past relationship and wanting your ex back, wanting things to be as they were before.

At first, Henley is hanging onto hope, but then he must let go and move on. The "boys of summer" in the song could refer to the boys that his ex is seeing now, and how they are just summer flings, while he is in it for the long run. The music of the song was written by Mike Campbell, who was also Tom Petty's right-hand man.

As a solo artist, Don Henley has released five studio albums and had eight Top 40 singles, won two Grammy Awards, five MTV Video Music Awards, and has sold more than 10 million albums all over the world.

In 2008, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Henley at the 87th spot on its list of greatest singer of all time.
