The band took their name from the song "Gettin, Havin, Holdin" from the band Scritti Politti. Wet Wet Wet have scored three No.1 hits: "Wishing I Was Lucky", "Love is All Around" and "With a Little Help From My Friends."

The band is also ranked equally with Elton John with most combined weeks at the top of the UK singles chart. On top of that, Wet Wet Wet also holds the record for the biggest run of sell-out-shows than any other band, 10 shows in front of 10,000 people in 1995 in the SECC.

The biggest hit of the band is their cover of The Troggs' 1960s hit "Love Is All Around" (mention above), which was a big international success and spent 15 weeks at the top of the British charts.
