Van Morrison (real name: George Ivan Morrison) is a Northern Irish singer, songwriter, record producer and instrumentalist.

Van Morrison's career began as a teenager when he was covering popular hits at shows and clubs in Northern Ireland. His first hit came as a member of the band Them when he wrote and recorded the song "Gloria" in 1964, which was the B-Side of the single "Baby, Please Don't Go."

Three years later as a solo artist, Van Morrison released the song "Brown Eyed Girl" and while many consider this song to be his signature song, he said in an interview that he has about 300 songs that are better.

Van Morrison does not have good feelings about this song, as he was never paid for it, got broke and depressed and remained that way for many years, until he decided to make a stand for himself and do things his way.

Van Morrison has won 2 Grammy AwardsthevBrit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music in 1994, the Americana Music Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting in 2017 and has also been inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

In 2016, Van Morrison was knighted for services to the music industry and to tourism in Northern Ireland.
