1963: The Beatles returned to London from Sweden and hundreds of screaming fans greeted them along with a mob of photographers and journalists. When The Beatles arrived, american television host Ed Sullivan was at Heathrow, and was amazed of the Beatlemania in sight. Sullivan decided to check and see if he could get this band to appear on his US television program.

1964: The Supremes started a four week run at the No.1 spot on the US singles chart with the single 'Baby Love'. It was the band's second of five consecutive US No.1 hits. The band were formally known as the five piece group The Primettes.

1970: Led Zeppelin started a four week run at the No.1 spot on the US album chart with the album 'Led Zeppelin III'. It was the group's second album to top the US charts.

1970: 'Motown Chartbusters Vol 4' reached the No.1 spot on the UK album chart. The album featured songs from: The Jackson Five, Marvin Gaye, & Tammi Terrell, The Four Tops, The Supremes, The Temptations and Smokey Robinson & The Miracles.

 

1986: Roger Waters went to the high court in order to try and stop David Gilmour and Nick Mason from using the name 'Pink Floyd', for their future tours and recordings.

1996: Slash announced he that he was no longer part of Guns N' Roses. He said that Axl Rose and he had only been civil to each other on two occasions ever since 1994.
