Today: February 20.

 

1959: Jimi Hendrix made his stage debut at the age of 16 years old, as he played a show at the Temple De Hirsch Sinai synagogue in Seattle.

 

1963: The Beatles drove through the night from Liverpool to London in order to appear on the live lunchtime BBC radio program "Parade of the Pops." They Performed the songs 'Love Me Do' and 'Please Please Me', and the appearance lasted just over 4 minutes. Afterwards, they drove another 180 miles back north for their performance that night at the Swimming Baths, Doncaster, Yorkshire.

1976: All four members of KISS had their footprints implanted on the pavement outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

1980: Bon Scott, singer of AC/DC, was pronounced dead as he arrived at a London hospital after a night of heavy drinking. He was found in the passenger seat of a friend's parked car, and the official coroner's report stated that Scott had "drunk himself to death", after he suffocated on his own vomit.

1988: Kylie Minogue topped the UK singles chart with 'I Should Be So Lucky.' Minogue had become a household name when she played Charlene Ramsey in Australian soap Neighbours. After every major UK record company turned down the song, producer Pete Waterman released the single on his own PWL label. Kylie Minogue has gone on and scored more than 30 hit singles.

1991: Bob Dylan was awarded a lifetime achievement award at the 33rd annual Grammy' Awards.
