Skunk Anansie are a British rock band that was formed in London, England in 1994. Band members include Skin (lead vocals, guitar), Ace (guitar, backing vocals), Cass (guitar, bass, backing vocals) and Mark Richardson (drums and percussion).

Ever wondered about the name of the band? Little after Skin met her future band colleagues, Skunk Anansie, who was nameless then, had to decide over the name of the band.

The unusual name choice was inspired by Anansi, which is a spider God present in the African legends. The addition of the word "skunk", which is an English jargon for Marijuana to the name of the band, had the purpose to make the name of the band sound more "indecent."

Skunk Anansie have released 6 studio albums, one compilation album and several hit singles, including "Weak", Selling Jesus, "Charity", "Hedonism" and others.

In 2004, the Guinness Book of British Hit Singles & Albums named Skunk Anansie as one of the most successful UK chart acts between 1952-2003, with a total of 142 weeks on both the album and singles charts, ranking the band at No.491.
