Opus III was an English electronic music group that consisted of Kirsty Hawkshaw (vocals) and musicians and producers Kevin Dodds, Ian Munro and Nigel Walton. The band achieved great success on the UK Singles Chart as well as on the U.S. Dance charts.

The members of Opus III promoted a strong environmental and feminist message through their song, lyrics, album liner notes and also photo and video imagery.

The words of the song "It's a Fine Day" came to the song's writer Edward Barton as he looked out from his balcony in Hulme, Manchester. The song was originally written as a poem, but then Barton and his girlfriend, vocalist Jane Lancaster, decided to record it as an A Capella song. It peaked at No.87 in the UK singles chart.

UK band Opus III covered this song a decade later, taking it into the UK Top 10 as well as topping the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. Their version of the song is considered now a house music classic.
