Mansun were an English alternative rock band that was formed in 1995 in Chester and comprised of Paul Draper (vocals, rhythm guitar), Stove King (bass), Dominic Chad (lead guitar/backing vocals) and Andie Rathbone (drums).
The song "Wide Open Space" is the band's best-known song and also the only single that gained significant exposure in the US, reaching No.25 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart in 1997.
However, the song is not the band's most successful single in terms of sales or UK position, reaching No.15 in the UK singles chart. Paul Draper later stated that he was the sole writer and perforrmer of the song.
In May 2003, it was announced that Mansun had split up, while the band was in the process of recording their fourth album.
