Lana Del Rey (real name: Elizabeth Woolridge Grant) is an American singer, songwriter, poet and record producer. Critics addressed her music for its stylized cinematic quality, its preoccupation with themes of tragic romance, melancholia and glamourand also its references to pop culture, particularly of the 1950s and 1960s Americana.

Here are a few interesting facts about Lana Del Rey:

1. As stated above, Lana Del Rey's given name is Elizabeth Grant.

2. She has been singing songs since she was 11 years old. She began as the leader of a church choir and continued throughout her youth, eventually writing songs on the subway in New York City all night when she couldn't sleep.

3. She studied metaphysics in college, but dropped out because among other things, she wasn't really good at math. She then began to focus on writing, art and video editing.

Her breakthrough came after her single "Video Games" went viral in 2011. Later that year, Del Rey signed with Interscope and Polydor. Her major label debut Born to Die from 2012 found worldwide success and spawned her first Top 10 single on the Billboard Hot 100 with the single "Summertime Sadness."

Lana Del Rey has continued to release successful albums that topped the US Billboard 200. Those albums are Ultraviolence from 2014 and Lust for Life from 2017. Also, her albums Paradise from 2012 and Honeymoon from 2015 have reached the top 10 as well.

Del Rey was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album for both Paradise and Lust for Life.
