Jennifer Rush (real name: Heidi Stern) is an American singer and songwriter. Rush was very successful worldwide in the mid-1980s and released a number of singles and albums. Her most successful and known single is "The Power of Love," which Rush co-wrote and released in 1984.

Jennifer Rush wrote the lyric of the song "The Power of Love" about her boyfriend, the Harvard graduate, Steven Engebretson, whom according to Rush was only her second boyfriend. The two were still together long after the song was released.

"The Power of Love" was the first single to ever sell a million copies by a female soloist in the UK and also the biggest selling single in 1985 in UK. The song held the record for the largest-selling single ever by a woman, that was until the song "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston from 1992 broke that record.
