Estelle (real name: Estelle Fanta Swaray) is a British singer, songwriter, record producer, rapper and actress from West London, England.

In her music, Estelle mixes various musical genres including R&B, reggae, soul, grime, dance and hip hop. She gained mainstream success with her single "American Boy" featuring Kanye West, which topped the UK chart, and her collaboration with David Guetta in "One Love".

The song "American Boy" is about one of Estelle's previous relationships. According to her, the song is based off her ex-boyfriend, when she met him during the first album and her got her pretty excited about American boys.

The song was produced by Will.I.Am of The Black Eyes Peas, and a number of critics have noticed that this song uses the same beats as Will.I.Am's "impatient" from album Songs About Girls.

The song became her first UK chart-topper when it debuted at No.1 on March 23, 2008 and it also won the best single award at the 2008 Mobo Awards.

Estelle has collaborated with many successful artists and musicians, among them are Chris Brown, John Legend, De La Soul, Rick Ross, Robin Thicke and others. She was also nominated three times for the Grammy Award and won once in 2008 for the song "American Boy," winning for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.
