Duran Duran are an English new wave band that was formed in 1978 in Birmingham. They were one of the most successful acts of the 1980s, and overall, have achieved 14 singles in the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart and 21 singles in the US Billboard Hot 100.

One of the band's most popular songs is "Save a Prayer" from 1982. Vocalist of Duran Duran, Simon Le Bon wrote this song while the band was on tour. The lyrics of the song revolve around a chance meeting between two people, that leads into a one-off sexual encounter.

Le Bon said that the lyrics of the song are "realistic" and not "romantic" as some or most listeners think. According to Le Bon, the chorus structure of the song is based on Gordon Lightfoot's "If You Could Read My Mind."

During their music career, Duran Duran have won many awards, among them are two Brit Awards, two Grammy Awards, an MTV Video Music Award for Lifetime Achievement, and a Video Visionary Award from the MTV Europe Music Awards. The band was also awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

To this day, Duran Duran have sold more than 100 million records all over the world.

The song "Hungry Like The Wolf" by Duran Duran was the band's breakthrough hit in the US.

The success of the song originated from MTV, which had only just come on air, showing their video of the group in the Sri Lanka jungle.

Simon Le Bon's lyrics were inspired by the fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood, which features the big bad wolf.

The video was loosely based on the movie Apocalypse Now, with the rest of the band members searching for lead singer Simon Le Bon in an exotic locale.

The story behind the song "A View to a Kill" by Duran Duran, is that bassist of the band, John Taylor approached the longtime James Bond producer, Albert R. 'Cubby' Broccoli, while extremely intoxicated in a party.

Taylor told Broccoli that he was a long time and major Bond geek, and frequently mentioned his Bond video collection during interviews. However, Taylor said that he thought that the music for the last few movies had been mediocre, and then offered to have Duran Duran fix the problem.

Broccoli took his idea under advisement and that's how the song "A View to a Kill" was born, featuring in a James Bond film.
