Bruno Mars (real name: Peter Gene Hernandez) is an American singer, songwriter,  record producer, dancer and multi-instrumentalist. He is known for his stage performances, retro showmanship and also for his performances in a wide range of musical styles including pop, funk, R&B, hip-hop, soulreggae and even rock at times.

During his showsm Bruno Mars is accompanied by his band, called The Hooligans. They play various instruments such as electric guitar, bass, keyboards, piano, drums and horns, and they also serve as backup singers and dancers for Mars.

Here are a few interesting facts about Bruno Mars:

1. As stated above, Bruno's real name is Peter Gene Hernandez, but when he was 2 years old, his father decided to nickname him "Bruno", because he was a chubby kid and there was a famous wrestler at the time named Bruno Sammartino. Bruno later added Mars to his nickname, because at the start of his musical career, a lot of girls said that he was out of this world, so he thought about the planet Mars.

2. Before Bruno Mars launched his solo career, he was part of a writing and production team called The Smeezingtons. This team wrote and produced songs for other artists like: Cee-Lo Green, Brandy, Flo Rida and others.

Bruno Mars released 7 No.1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 since the year 2010, attaining his first 5 No.1 singles faster than any male artist since Elvis Presley. He has won and received various awards and nominations, among them are 11 Grammy Awards, 3 Brit Awards, 3 Guinness World Records and 9 American Music Awards.

So far to this day, Bruno Mars has sold more than 130 million records all over the world, which makes him one of the best-selling artists of all time.
