Blind Melon is an American rock band that was formed in 1990 in Los Angeles, California. The band is best known for their hit "No Rain" from 1993 which we will now talk about, and enjoyed critical and commercial success during the early 1990s with their neo-psychedelic take on alternative rock.

The song "No Rain" was written by bass player, Brad Smith, before forming the band. Smith said that the song is about not being able to get out of bed and find excuses to face the day when you have really, in a way, nothing.

At the time, Smith was dating a girl who was going through depression, and for a while he told himself that he was writing the song from her perspective, while later realizing that he was also writing about it himself.
