Music facts, music trivia, interesting stories and much more. Introducing the "Did You Know" page about American musician and record producer, Anderson Paak.
Anderson Paak (real name: Brandon Paak Anderson) is an American musician and record producer from Oxnard, California.
In 2012, he released his debut album, O.B.E. Vol. 1 under the pseudonym Breezy Lovejoy, and in 2014 released his second album, Venice, under his current moniker. In 2016, he released the album Malibu, which received a nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the Grammy Awards.
The title of his song "King James" pays homage to basketball star LeBron James for his charity work within the African-American community. He also takes the opportunity during the song to acknowledge some problematic social issues in the US, including taking issue with the Trump administration's plans to build a border wall.
During the second verse in the song, Paak praises the actions of former NFL quarterback, Colin Kaepernick who was essentially blackballed by the NFL after taking a knee during the national anthem prior to NFL games in 2016 to protest police brutality.
Anderson Paak is not only a solo artist, but he's also one-half of NxWorries, alongside record producer Knxwledge. He is accompanied by the band The Free Nationals, who play a variety of instruments like bass, electric guitar, keyboards, drums and piano and also serve as backing vocalists.
