U96 is a German dance-music project that was formed in 1991 by producer and DJ, Alex Christensen, and a team of producers named Matiz, who are Helmut Hoinkis, Ingo Hauss and Hayo Lewerentz.
U96's 1991-1992: Das Boot project comes from the film Das Boot, which is about the German submarine U-96 from WWII. The first hit from this project "Das Boot" which was released in 1991 is a techno adaptation of the movie's melody, which had been originally composed by Klaus Doldinger.
An album of the same name was also released and later on, the project released more material like Club Bizarre (1994-1995), Heaven (1996) and more.
