The Stranglers are an English rock band that was formed in 1974 and emerged in the punk rock music scene. They had 23 singles on the UK top 40 singels chart and 17 albums on the UK top 40 albums chart. Some of the band's successful singles are: "Always The Sun", "Golden Brown", No More Heroes" and more.

Basist and lead vocalist, JJ Burnel, admitted in an interview that The Stranglers weren't exactly chummy with the majority of their peers early on in their career.

Burnel said that they weren't friends with anyone, but they did make friends with individuals. One of them was Joe Strummer who was a mate for a short while. Dr. Feelgood was also a band that The Stranglers admired, but overall, the band weren't befriended by many.

The Stranglers are considered as one of the longest-surviving and most "continuously successful" acts that have originated in the UK punk scene, and they are still active and performing to this day.
