The Everly Brothers were an American country-influenced rock and roll duo, consisted of Isaac Donald "Don" Everly and Phillip "Phil" Everly. They were known for steel-string acoustic guitar playing as well as close harmony singing.

One of their best known songs is "Wake Up Little Susie", which was written by husband and wife Felice and Boudleaux Bryant. The Bryant couple was respomsible for writing most of songs for The Everly Brothers in the '50s.

The song "Wake Up Little Susie" is about a young couple who fall asleep at the drive-in, realize they are out past curfew, and make up a story to tell Susie's parents. Some Boston radio stations banned this song because of the lyrics, which imply that the young couple spent the night together. At the time, staying out late with a girl was a little controversial.

In 1986, The Everly Brothers were inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and in 2001 they were inducted to the Country Music Hall of Fame.
