Kenney Loggins is an American singer and songwriter. He started his musical career in high school, when he started a band by the name of Second Helping.

Kenny Loggins recorded his early songs in 1970 with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, which led to seven albums, performing as the Loggins and Messina from 1972 to 1977. During the 1980s, Loggins was known for his theme songs on several movies which are now considered classics.

These songs are: "I'm Alright" for the movie Caddyshack, "Danger Zone" for the movie Top Gun and "Footloose" that was nominated for an Academy Award for the movie by the same name. Loggins considers himself to be fortunate to have taken his career in that direction, as disco was changing what was being played on the radio, acknowledging that movies kept bread on the table (to his words) for most of the 1980s.
