Gerry Rafferty was a Scottish singer and songwriter, and was known for successful hits like: "Baker Street", Stuck in the Middle with You", "Night Owl" and "Right Down the Line".

Gerry Rafferty was influenced by the music of Bob Dylan and The Beatles and was part of the groups The Humblebums and Stealers Wheel. One of his most known and successful songs is "Baker Street" and this song is the subject of our interesting fact of the day.

The song "Baker Street" is about a man who dreams of owning a house and living away from his neighborhood, but this man is a drunk and cannot achieve this goal.

He drinks to forget what he does not have, never realizing he's actually a rolling stone with no direction. If you ever wondered, Baker Street is a real street in London, where Gerry Refferty often stayed with a friend who lived there.

In 2011, Gerry Rafferty died of liver failure at the home of his daughter Martha in Stroud, Gloucestershire.
