Evanescence is an American rock band that was formed in 1995 in Little Rock, Arkansas, by Amy Lee (vocals, piano) and Ben Moody (guitar).

Ben Moody met Amy Lee at a christian youth when he was 14 years old and she was 13 years old. They started working on songs together and that was the beginning of Evanescence.

The band takes a lot of time between albums, partly because logistics are tough, but also because singer Amy Lee, likes to pursue other interests in order to get inspiration. In between the albums of the band The Open Door from 2006 and Evanescence from 2011, Amy Lee learned to play harp and even used her knowledge to write the song "My Heart is Broken."

The band's lineup has changed over the years, but they are still active, up and running and continue to record new material and tour around the world.
