Crowded House are a rock band that was formed in 1985 in Melbourne, Australia. The band consisted of founding members Neil Finn from New Zealand (vocals, guitar, primary songwriter), Paul Hester from Australia (drums) and Nick Seymour (bass). Later on, Tim Finn and Mark Hart and Matt Sherrod from America joined the band as well.

The biggest hit by the band in the U.S. was the song "Don't Dream It's Over", which reached the No.2 spot on the chart. Lead singer, Neil Finn, wrote the song on his brother's piano.

Finn said that it was just about on the one hand feeling kind of lost, and on the other hand sort of urging himself on: Don't dream it's over.

It is estimated that Crowded House had sold 10 million albums, as of July 2010, and in November 2016, the band was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
