ABBA were a Swedish pop group that were formed in Stockholm in 1972. Band members were: Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad.

Where did the namd ABBA came from you ask? When ABBA formed, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad were a couple, as were Björn Ulvaeus and Agnetha Fältskog. So, the name of the band is actually their initials as an acronym.

ABBA became one of the most commercially successful acts in the history of popular music. They topped the charts all over the world between 1974 to 1982, and also won the Eurovision Song Contest 1974, which gave Sweden its first win in the contest.

ABBA are estimated to have sold between 340 to more than 500 million records, making them one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

They also formed the Polar Music company, which houses a recording studio that is still in use today. Bands like Genesis, Led Zeppelin and The Backstreet Boys have all recorded there.

In 2010, ABBA was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The song "The Winner Takes It All" by ABBA was written by band member Bjorn Ulvaeus after separating from wife and fellow band member, Agnetha Faltskog.

The song "The Winner Takes It All" is about a divorce, where one person does not want to separate and thus, clings desperately to the marriage.

This put Agnetha in a strange spot of being asked to sing a breakup song that was written by her ex-husband, even though he didn't intend it to be this way.

Ulvaeus claimed that 90% of the song is fiction, and that is why he did not feel too bad about having his ex-wife sing it.
