Twisted Sister was an American heavy metal band originally from Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey, and later based in Long Island, New York.

Their best-known hits include the songs "We're Not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock."

Some of the band members have admitted that to wearing wigs for concerts and performances in order to live up past days of head-banging glory, and also to put on a good show for the fans.

Twisted Sister has also been described as both a metal band and a glam rock band, yet band member, Dee Snider, has said that Twisted Sister consider themselves a metal band, as well as the first glam metal band.

They are ranked No. 73 in VH1's 100 greatest artists of hard rock.
