Tori Amos is an American singer, songwriter, composer and pianist. She is a classically trained musician with a mezzo-soprano vocal range, and in our interesting fact of the day, you'll understand how talented Tori Amos really is.

Tori Amos started playing the piano at the age of 2 and at the age of 5, she won a scholarship to the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland. She became the youngest person that was ever admitted to the conservatory. At the age of 11, Amos was expelled from the conservatory for what Rolling Stone magazine described as "musical insubordination."

When Tori Amos was 16 years old, she played in a piano bar in Washington, DC, where she learned to play just about any song that was requested.

She had many songs that reached the charts, with some of them are: "Crucify", "Professional Widow", "Cornflake Girl" and more. She was nominated 5 times for the MTV VMA, 8 times for the  Grammy Award, and has won an Echo award for her classical work.

Tori Amos is listed on the list of "100 Greatest Women of Rock and Roll" by VH1.

The song "Cornflake Girl" by Tori Amos is based on a book by Alice Walker called Possessing The Secret of Joy, which details the practice of female genital mutilation in areas of Africa.

The cereal bowl is used as a metaphor for divisions among women. The "conrnflake girls" are close-minded, while the "raisin girls" are open to new and different ideas.

Tori's record company decided to release a series of corn flakes boxes with Tori's picture on them in order to promote the song to record companies. Theses boxes are collector's items now.
