1964: The Beatles were at the top five places of the US singles chart. At No. 5 spot was the song 'Please Please Me', at No.4 spot was the song 'I Want To Hold Your Hand', at No.3 spot was the song 'Roll Over Beethoven', at No.2 spot was the song 'Love Me Do' and at the top of the chart was the song 'Can't Buy Me Love.' The band also had another nine singles on the chart, which brought a total to fourteen singles on the Hot 100.

1970: Crosby Stills Nash & Young topped the US album chart with Deja Vu. It was the first album where Neil Young joined Crosby, Stills and Nash and features three US Top 40 singles: 'Woodstock', 'Teach Your Children' and 'Our House.'

1987: Starship started a two week run at the top of the US and UK singles charts with 'Nothin's Gonna Stop Us Now', which features in the film 'Mannequin'.

1987: U2 entered the US album chart at the No.7 spot with The Joshua Tree. This entry was the highest chart new entry in America for 7 years.

 

1999: 'Talk On Corners' album by The Corrs, topped the UK album chart for the 10th time. They also held the No.2 spot with 'Forgiven, Not Forgotten.' Both albums had spent over a year on the chart. Talk on Corners album was the biggest selling album of 1998 in the UK and the 9th best selling album of 1999.

2007: A Swedish couple ran into trouble with authorities after they tried to name their baby Metallica. Michael and Karolina Tomaro went to court with the country's National Tax Authority about naming their daughter by the name of the rock band. The six-month-old has been baptised Metallica, but tax officials claimed that the name was "inappropriate". Under Swedish law, both the first name and surname must win the approval of authorities before they can actually be used.
