1963: Publicist Andrew Oldham and agent Eric Easton signed a management deal with The Rolling Stones after they bought the rights to the group's first recordings for £90. They also persuaded keyboard player Ian Stewart to drop out of the line up and become the road manager of The Rolling Stones, but still play the piano at the back of the stage.

1976: After a show in Memphis, Bruce Springsteen took a cab to Elvis Presley's Graceland home and decided to climb over the wall. A guard spotted him and thought that he was another regular Elvis fan, and so Springsteen was apprehended by the guard.

1980: Black Sabbath began their first tour with Ronnie James Dio as the vocalist of the band. Dio replaced Ozzy Osbourne.

 

1993: Guitarist and producer, Mick Ronson, died of liver cancer at the age of 46. He recorded and toured with musician David Bowie from 1970-1973 and released the 1974 solo album 'Slaughter On Tenth Avenue'. He also co-produced the album Transformer by Lou Reed, and worked with many bands and acts such as: Elton John, Morrissey, Johnny Cougar, Slaughter & The Dogs, The Wildhearts, The Rich Kids and T-Bone Burnett.

 

1998: Aerosmith's frontman, Steven Tyler, broke his knee during a show in Anchorage, Alaska. As a result, the band's 'Nine Lives' tour was delayed as well as the necessitating camera angle adjustments for the filming of the video for 'I Don't Want to Miss a Thing.'

2007: Arctic Monkeys started a three week run at the top of the UK album chart with their second album 'Favourite Worst Nightmare.'

2016: 15 albums by Prince made it into the UK chart as fans rushed to buy his music just after his sudden death. 6 of the albums were in the top 40 with The Very Best Of at the number 2 spot, Ultimate at the number 3 spot and Purple Rain at the number 4 spot on the chart.
