The Proclaimers are a Scottish music duo (Charlie and Craig Reid), that are best known for their hit songs "I'm On My Way", "Letter from America", "Sunshine on Leith" and "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)". They are also known for their singing style with a Scottish accent.

Our interesting fact of the day is about their song "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)", a song that is about being devoted to a woman and wanting to spend the rest of your life with her.

The song "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" was written in 1988, but became a big hit when it was used in the film Benny And Joon from 1993, featuring Johnny Depp. Craig Reid said that he was sitting at the piano and the chords just came to him. He wrote the song in 45 minutes and knew that it was good, maybe even good enough to be a single, but he had no idea how popular it would become.

Since 1987, The Proclaimers have released 11 studio albums and to this day, they still tour extensively around the world and perform live, so if you're a fan, you can enjoy them live at concert.
