Texas are a Scottish pop rock band that was formed in 1986 in Glasgow. The band was formed when former Altered Images and Hipsway guitarist, John McElhone Auditioned Sharleen Spiteri, a hairdresser who was looking break into the music and become the vocalist of the band.
The song "I Don't Want a Lover" by Texas, was the very first song that Spiteri and McElhone wrote together. It was their first single release and the band's first hit.
As of 2017, Texas sold 40 million records worldwide and had 13 UK top ten singles, 3 UK number one albums and 8 UK top ten albums.
