Terry Jacks (real name: Terrence Ross Jacks) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, record producer and environmentalist. He is best known for his song "Seasons in the Sun" from 1974.

The song "Seasons in the Sun" was originally written and performed by the Belgian poet and composer Jacques Brel in French in 1961. Terry Jacks said that after his own version was released, he had dinner with Brel in Brussels, who told him about writing this song.

The song was about an old man who was dying of a broken heart, because his best friend was sleeping with his wife. Brel wrote the song in Tangiers and in the original version of the song, the old man was dying of a broken heart and he was saying goodbye to his wife who cheated on him, and his best friend.
