Taylor Swift is an American singer and songwriter and is one of the leading contemporary recording artists in the world. Swift is also known for different songs about her personal life, songs that have received great media coverage.

Taylor's parents indulged her interest in country music and took her to visit Nashville when she was 11 years old. On this trip, she went into record companies and handed out demo cds of her, singing karaoke versions of country classics.

When Taylor was 12 years old, the family's computer repairman showed her how to play three chords on a guitar, and thus sparking her interest in learning to play the guitar. She then wrote "Lucky You", which was her first song.

When Taylor Swift was 14 years old, she signed a development deal with RCA Records, but they pushed her to record songs that were written by other writers. When the contract ended after a year, Taylor decided to leave the label, because she wanted to perform her own songs. In 2007, when she was 17 years old, she released her self-titled debut album.
