Joe Satriani is an American instrumental rock guitarist and multi-instrumentalist. Before he achieved fame and greatness as a musician, Joe Satriani worked as a guitar instructor, and many of his students achieved fame and even fortune.

He started teaching many renowned guitarists after he moved to California, and these guitarists who you are very familiar with these days are Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Steve Vai, Alex Skolnick (Testament), Larry Lalonde (Primus), David Bryson (Counting Crows) and many others.

Later on, Satriani began a successful solo music career and was nominated 15 times for a Grammy Award, yet never winning.

In 1988, Mick Jagger from The Rolling Stones, recruited Joe Satriani to be his lead guitarist for his first solo tour. Satriani also toured briefly with Deep Purple, also being the lead guitarist. He joined Deep Purple after guitarist Ritchie Blackmore left the band in November of 1993.

Satriani has worked with many guitarists during the G3 tour, which he himself founded in 1995. Since 2008, he has been the guitarist for the supergroup Chickenfoot.

Joe Satriani sold more than 10 million albums, which makes him the biggest-selling instrumental rock guitarist of all time.
