Ini Kamoze (real name: Cecil Campbell) is a Jamaican reggae artist. He began his career during the early 1980s, but returned to prominence in 1994 with his signature song "Here Comes the Hotstepper".

After some success as a reggae artist along with Sly & Robbie, by the early 1990s, the career of Ini Kamoze had hit rock bottom. He began working on the song "Here Comes the Hotstepper" as a comeback in late 1992, and realized that it would be better if the song was in a non-reggae format.

It was a great effort to do something different with the song, as it was written about 3 years before it came out, because Ini and producer Salaam Remi couldn't get record companies to embrace the idea.

The song eventually topped the U.S.Billboard Hot 100 as well as record charts in New Zealand and Denmark. It also reached the No.4 spot on the UK Singles Chart.
