Greta Van Fleet is an American rock band that was formed in 2012 in Frankenmuth, Michigan, formed in 2012.

Members of the band are actually three brothers and their friend from school, all coming from the small farming community of Frankenmuth in Michigan.

The father of the Kiszka boys is a chemist and their mother a former science teacher, yet both parents even though not comint from a music background, encouraged the boys' love of music and were very supportive of them.

Greta Van Fleet are named after an elderly Frankenmuth neighbor of the brothers, called Gretna Van Fleet. Their use of the modified version of her name was done with her (later) blessing.

In 2017, Greta Van Fleet released their debut studio EP, called Black Smoke Rising, with the band's debut single, "Highway Tune", topping the Billboard US Mainstream Rock and Active Rock charts in September of 2017 for 4 weeks in a row.
