Music facts, music trivia, interesting stories and much more. Introducing the "Did You Know" page about English singer, songwriter and guitarist, George Ezra.
George Ezra (full name: George Ezra Barnett) is an English singer, songwriter and guitarist, and is known for his deep, bass-baritone singing voice.
He grew up in Hertford in England, raised by teacher parents. Ezra was planning on following in his mother and father's footsteps until he started playing bass at the age of 13, and the reason he started playing bass was because he wasn't good at sports, and his friend was already learning the drums.
When Ezra was 16 years old, he chose to be a B-Tech in music, then went on to further study at BIMM (British and Irish Modern Music Institute) in Bristol. He actually started his musical career in a Wheatus tribute band, singing the female parts.
George Ezra rose to fame and prominence with the release of his hit single, "Budapest", which topped the charts in several countries. His debut studio album, Wanted on Voyage, was released in June 2014, and reached the top of the chart in the UK, as well the Top 10 in seven other countries. The album was also the third best-selling album of 2014 in the UK.
Ezra's second studio album, Staying at Tamara's, was released in March 2018, and topped the UK chart as well as the Top 10 in eight other countries. The single "Paradise" from the album reached No.2 in the UK, while the single, "Shotgun" topped the chart.
