Dr. Dre (real name: Andre Romelle Young) is an American rapper, record producer and entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO of Beats Electronics and Aftermath Entertainment, and was also the co-owner of Death Row Records.

Dr. Dre's music career started as a DJ when he was only a teenager. Dr. Dre heard 'Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel,' and that made him want DJ, and know what hip-hop was.

He immediately went home, called some of his friends and together they started taking apart one of the friend's mother's stereo sets. They eventually figured out how to make a mixer from the balance button, got it cracking and and started making tapes. Not too long after that, Dre's mother got him a Numark mixer for Christmas and from that moment on, Dre was off and running from there.

Dr. Dre has produced albums for many successful rappers, including The D.O.C., 2Pac, Snoop Dogg, Xzibit, Knoc-turn'al, Eminem, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar and The Game. Dre is considered as a key figure in the crafting and popularization of West Coast G-funk, which is a rap style that is characterized as synthesizer-based with slow, heavy beats.

Dr. Dre has won 6 Grammy Awards out of 26 nominations, including Producer of the Year, and is ranked on the 56th spot of Rolling Stone's list of "100 Greatest Artists of All Time".
