Did You Know? Ray Caldwell Pitched Complete Game After Being Struck by LightningJanuary 30, 2014

This amazing incident happened in 1919 during an MLB game and is considered to this day to be one of the most unusual in the history of baseball and sports. Caldwell was pitching for the Cleveland Indians in a game against the Philadelphia A's in League Park in Cleveland and during the game in the middle of the ninth inning a bolt of lightning struck him.

After being struck by the lightning, Caldwell simply got up, shook his head several times and shouted towards Ray Chapman saying: "Give me that danged ball and turn me toward the plate."

Caldwell continued playing as if nothing had happened and even got the final out for the win, amazing!

It's not only unbelievable he survived the lightning, but he was a true winner that didn't even think about leaving the game for treatment.

Let's play ball!
