Did You Know? Jim Morrison Arrested in Concert and Started a RiotJanuary 29, 2014

Jim Morrison, the front man of The Doors was one of the most charismatic singers in the history of music,a great performer, poet and a genius with an I.Q. level of 149. He was known for making outrageous and wild remarks during the concerts and shows. One memorable and famous event was on December 9, 1967.

That day, The Doors performed in Connecticut at the New Haven Arena and before the show, Morrison was caught kissing a fan in the shower. A police officer that caught the two asked them to separate and in response Morrison told him and I quote: "Eat it."

The police officer then warned Jim Morrison with mace and told him it was his last chance to which Morrison replied "Last chance to eat it."

At this point the policeman acted by spraying Morrison in the face with the mace and the New Haven concert was delayed for about an hour letting Morrison recover from this bizarre incident. Jim Morrison may have recovered but this incident made him extremely angry and during the first set of the band in the concert, Morrison suddenly broke into an obscenity-laced tirade to the crowd and explained what had happened with the police officer earlier backstage. Morrison also verbally abused the New Haven police and so they had to arrest him.

After he was taken off stage, the riot began and the crowd was not about to let it slide just like that as all this violence spilled from the New Haven Arena into the streets and all hell broke loose.

Morrison's behavior became even more unpredictable and erratic over the years and on March 1, 1969, the band with Morrison perhaps gave their most controversial performance in Miami at the Dinner Key Auditorium. During the concert, Morrison started preaching messages of peace and hate, taunting the crowd by screaming at them "You're all a bunch of idiots. What are you gonna do about it?" and then he said it's time to get naked.

People in the crowd began taking off their clothes including Jim Morrison himself which was later on convicted of indecent exposure.

On December 12, 1970, The Doors gave their last live performance and it was in that show that Morrison experienced a breakdown on stage. He slammed the microphone several times into the floor until he broke the platform beneath and ff that's not enough, he later on sat down on the ground refusing to continue the show. This event marked the last of The Doors' live performances.

I guess if you're a genius, you have to be controversial as well…
