David Bowie (real name: David Robert Jones) was an English singer, songwriter and actor. Bowie is considered to be one of the most influential and successful musicians of the 20th century.

David Bowie's career and music was marked by reinvention and visual presentation, and his music and performances significantly influenced a lot of other musicians and popular music in general.

An interesting fact about David Bowie comes from the mid '70s, that was when he developed a severe cocaine addiction. Bowie claimed that he lived on a diet of milk, peppers and cocaine.

At the time, Bowie also suffered with paranoia and reportedly kept his urine in the fridge in case someone stole it. He also became obsessed with black magic and following a visit from Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin guitarist), Bowie exorcised his own house, as he believed that Page brought poletergeists to the house.

Apart from that interesting fact, David Bowie was a great artist and musician and during his career, it is estimated that he sold 140 million albums all over the world, making him one of the best-selling music artists worldwide.

David Bowie was awarded 10 platinum album certifications in the UK, 11 gold and 8 silver, and having no less than 11 No.1 albums. Bowie also received 5 platinum and 9 gold certifications in the US.

In 1996, David Bowie was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

On the surface, the song "Let's Dance" by David Bowie is about dancing with your lover, but according to producer Nile Rodgers, there is a deeper meaning to the song.

Rodgers said that when David Bowie wrote the lyrics to the song, he was talking about the dance that people do in life, the conceptual dance of not being honest.

In the song, Bowie sings 'Put on your red shoes and dance the blues,' like you're pretending to be happy, when in fact you are really sad.

Another interesting fact about the song is that Stevie Ray Vaughan played lead guitar on the song. David Bowie was impressed when he saw him perform at the Montreaux Jazz Festival a year before.
