In the UK, British singer and songwriter, Chris Rea is known for his 10th studio album, "The Road to Hell."
After it was released in 1989, the album, which was written in one week only, topped the UK album charts for three weeks.
The Road to Hell deals with the isolation and ennui that Chris Rea felt after buying a house on the shore and commuting to London.
The album was certified 6x Platinum by BPI until 2004.

The beach in question in the song "On The Beach" by Chris Rea is in Formentera, an island off the coast of Spain.
According to Chris Rea, that is where he and his wife actually became he and his wife. Chris and his wife, Joan, have been a couple since 1968.
The song "On The Beach" originally peaked at No.57 in the UK in 1986. Two years later, a re-released version of the song titled "On The Beach (summer '88)" did rather better and reached the No.12 spot on the chart.
