Carly Rae Jepsen is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and actress. She attended Heritage Park Secondary school in Mission, British Columbia where she pursued her passion for musical theatre by appearing in student productions of Grease, The Wiz and Annie.
After Carly graduated, there were no jobs in musical theatre waiting for her and she struggled to pay the bills. Carly then took a succession of jobs which included being a barista, a pastry shop assistant and a bartender at the Media Club in Vancouver.
After being part of the Canadian Idol top 3 concert tour, Carly retreated to British Columbia to focus on writing and recording. Her breakthrough came in 2012, with her hit single "Call Me Maybe" that became very popular and became the best-selling single of that year, topping the charts in 18 countries worldwide.
As a result, Carly was signed to a joint worldwide record deal with Schoolboy Records and Interscope Records, and her second studio album Kiss was released later that year.
Jepsen has won and received multiple accolades and awards, among them are three Juno Awards, a Billboard Music Award, and an Allan Slaight Award. She was also nominated twice for the Grammy Award, as well for the Primetime Emmy Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, Polaris Music Prize and People's Choice Awards.
As of May 2015, Carly Rae Jepsen has sold more than 20 million records all over the world.
