1965: The Supremes scored their fourth US No.1 single with 'Stop! In The Name Of Love.' The song features on the Supremes' sixth album, More Hits by The Supremes, and was also nominated for the 1966 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Rock & Roll Group Vocal Performance. Eventually, it lost the award to 'Flowers on the Wall' by the Statler Brothers. The song also features of the distinguished list of 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.

1971: New York radio station WNBC banned the song 'One Toke Over the Line' by Brewer & Shipley due to the song's alleged drug references. With that ban, other radio stations around the country followed and banned the song as well.

1972: Elvis Presley recorded his last major hit, 'Burning Love.' the song reached the No.2 spot on the US chart. Written by Dennis Linde and originally recorded by country soul artist Arthur Alexander, who included it on his 1972 self-titled album. The song was covered not so long after and brought to fame by Elvis. It became his biggest hit single in the US since 'Suspicious Minds' back in 1969.

 

1979: Eric Clapton married Patti Harrison, who was the ex wife of George Harrison at Temple Bethel, Tucson, Arizona. The marriage did not last long as she eventually applied for a divorce in 1988.

1984: Bryan Adams went into Little Mountain Sound, Vancouver, Canada in order to record the song 'Run To You' for his fourth studio album, Reckless. The song was the first single that was released from the album and gave him his first UK hit as it reached the No.11 spot in the chart. The music video was shot in London and Los Angeles and was nominated for the 1985 MTV Video Music Awards in 5 categories.

1987: U2 went on a roof of a store in downtown LA in order to perform and make the video clip for the song 'Where The Streets Have No Name'. This caused thousands of spectators to come to the place and caused traffic to standstill. At the end, police had to stop the shoot and shut it down.

2015: Country singer, Willie Nelson, announced that he and his family were working hard on a new brand of marijuana that was called 'Willie's Reserve'. Stores of that same name were already being planned and were set to include his signature brand along other strains that would be grown in order to meet quality standards.
